2024 Indiana Youth Tobacco Survey
The Youth Tobacco Survey (YTS) is a school-based survey administered every other year (fall semester of the even years, such as 2022, 2024, etc.) that measures cigarette, e-cigarette, cigar, pipe, smokeless tobacco, hookah, nicotine pouch, Delta THC, and cannabis use among Indiana’s youth in grades 6–12.
The survey also measures the impact of media and advertising, enforcement of youth tobacco access laws, school curriculum, and exposure to secondhand smoke.
The high school and middle school survey questions may be viewed here:
The survey sample includes 60 high schools and 60 middle schools (grades 6-12), and between two to six randomly selected classrooms per school will be surveyed.
The Indiana YTS is an electronic survey with skip logic, which minimizes the burden on schools and provides an efficient option for survey administration.
